Default 357mag for DEER?

Anyone load a 357 for deer?
Has anyone tried 170gr. sierra HP's in 357. I recently loaded some and the exposed soft lead HP started to mushroom and would not seat the same. Ever seen this before? I currently am loading 140gr XTP and 160gr CL/SIL from hornady. Think these would work at 50yds and in?

158gr swc is what I was loading. There is no reason a 357 wont work for deer. Are you wanting to use pistol or rifle? Pistol is no probs out to 50-75 yards, rifle 100-125 yards. The other bullets and loads that you mentioned I have no comment on.
