270wsm load question
 

Hey, I'm shooting a sako finnlight 270wsm, and am going to start reloading for this rifle. I really like, and am going to go with the sierra Gameking 130 grain bullet, leaning towards the IMR 4350 powder. need help with where to start with my loads, what information I have found so far recommends 59 grains. I want to keep this bullet around 3000fps. ( I guess they blow up on impact at higher volicities ) I know there is probably a better bullet to use on Minnesota Whitetail, but I have had great success in my regular 270 with expansion and accuracy, so I want to continue to shoot this bullet. please help me with where I can start with powder loads, and what you may think might be the most accurate. I just did some with H-414 57 grains 130 gr spitzers and they shoot great out of my browning A -bolt

If you want to shoot a 130 grain bullet at 3000fps, why did you buy a 270 WSM and not just a regular 270 Win?

That said, why not step up to a bullet like a Nosler Accubond or a Hornady Interbond. They don't really cost that much more, and you can drive them full speed without worrying about them blowing up.

I guess I didn't think the 270wsm was to much of a gun for the 130 grain bullet. And to answer your question I have two 270win already, one is a ruger and one is a remington. also I got a good deal on the 270wsm with a zeiss scope. I guess I am looking for a bullet that I can shoot deer out to 400 yards that will also perform well at 100 yards. I worked up a load for the wsm last week (most accurate was 130 sierra gameking, 58.3 Grains of IMR 4350) 3 shot group at 100yrds cover with a dime. put milk jugs filled with water at 400yrd and hit them consistently also.( kinda cool see the jugs blow and then hear the hit) I guess im just looking for the perfect bullet, and it probably doesnt exist. +1 on the accubond. I have shot deer from 40 to 450 yards with them.

130 gr Nosler Accubond, I4350 is an excellent choice to start with. H4831sc, re 19, re 22 are also great powders to try.
