Which Press to buy?
 

Ok ya' ll which is it, the RCBS Master Rock Chucker, or the Lyman set. I will really just load .243 and .270 on it. Also what kind of Tumbler should I get? Now I have used a RCBS before but if I am not mistaken I do believe that Lyman Dies are cheaper, or they were last time I checked. Oh well which ever gets the most votes is the one I will go with.

RCBS and a midway tumbler is what I use . My tumblers are about eight years old and the only problem I have ever had is one of them wore a hole in the bowl I had used it so much .

RCBS as well but, go with another tumbler, Midway sticks you with a restocking charge for any returns. The Cabela' s tumbler does a good job.

yup.....Reloading is spelled RCBS......all the way

all the vibratory bowls (tumblers) are made by one company and sold thru many different companys.....IE Midway' s is the same as Dillons is the same as Hornady' s etc

Lee Chalanger Press ( comes with the anniversary kit) works well if you are on a budget. I bought mine years ago and although I' ve considered many times to upgrade to an RCBS press couldn' t justify the expence when this one works so well. Don' t skip on the scale, get a good one. In my opinion it' s the most important piece of equipment you' ll buy. I' ve used lots of dies and I' ve had good results with lee dies too.

Both are good presses. I would probably buy the RCBS press. I use Lee dies if they have the cartridge available that I need. I like the Lee Deluxe rifle 3-die set you get a full length sizing die, collet die (neck sizing) and bullet seater. I use the Lyman 2200 turbo tumbler with auto flow. You just pull the drain plug turn it on and it empties the media into the pan, all you have left is clean brass in the tumbler, no need for the rotary separator mess.

I use the Lee O frame Challenger press for resizing/depriming/bullet crimping
I use the Lee C frame press for bullet seating

You might want to consider Dillon Progressive Presses I have a 550B that I use for pistol and some rifle rounds.
Great for loading varmint loads.

Also buy 2 tumblers one for walnut media for cleaning and one for cron cob media for polishing.:)

The RCBS Rock Chucker press is the only press I recommend. The Super is ok for some of the newer, longer cases. I can' t say for a fact, but I think the longer " O" of the Super might stretch a little easier than the Rock Chucker.

As for the price of dies, the cheapest dies around, in the long run, are usually the ones you pay the most for today. The best dies made, IMHO, are the Redding and the RCBS, in that order. Both of these companies have excellent products and guarantee. Money spent on them is well spent. Good luck.[&:]
