BC for the 277 cal bullet

Which bullet for the 270 win has the highest ballistics coeficiant. I want a hunting load but I know a lot of whitetails have been killed with sierra MK and horn AMAX, does any hunting bullets come close? Also I want to load 130 gr bullets. Thank You.

Check out the Bergers, Interbond or Ballistic tip.;) But, in reality, BC's don't mean much to most people unless they are set up to actually use them...

And inside 300 yards, they don't make enough difference to matter with game the size of deer.

Just for s**ts and giggles I ran the numbers for the .308 cal 168gr Matchking (BC 0.462) vs the 165gr Hornady FB SP (BC 0.387) fired at 2900fps. At 300 yards the difference is less then 1/2" and only 5 fps. At 500 yards the difference is only 3.5" and 157 fps. So unless you plan to shoot at 500 yards or more, the difference doesn't matter.

I'd suggest that you buy the best hunting bullet for your chosen game animal, and don't worry about BC unless you shoot far enough for it to matter.

Like has been said unless you are actually shooting beyond 500 yards it isn't going to make any real world difference at all.

But to answer your question... the published BC's for 130 grain .277" bullets are as follows from highest to lowest.

Hornady SST and Interbond - .460
Berger VLD hunting - .452
Speer BTSP - .449
Sierra Game King - .436
Nosler Accubond - .435
Barnes TSX - .431

Now keep in mind that the BC will change as velocity changes.

I'm surprised by the Hornady figure. The Berger VLD's have a very high BC. Next would be the Sierras. The makers' websites often give this information. BC varies depending on the actual velocity, so the BC changes as the bullet slows down.

shoot the hornady interbond 140grn ,it will kill anything in north america. imr 4831 is great for this bullet.

A lot of the guys on some of the other reloading boards joke about Hornady bc #'s.
