Will do,I will be working the loads up from a mild starting load as I always do,so I won't likely be blowing any primers. It is possible that the Nosler brass are thicker and have less internal volume which causes more pressure, just as Lapua brass does in my 308win.

I have heard some terrible things about the Nolser 300winmag brass, but nothing but good about the 280AI brass.I have also read that Nosler brass is made by different vendors depending on the chambering. It is very possible given such different results from the various chamberings.

I am getting a new custom sako 280 ackley improved soon. Trying to get brass and dies. I see people talking about fire forming 280 remington brass. Some are even saying use cream of wheat. Can someone explain fire forming technique??
In case you want to form your own brass:

Ackley Improved cases are designed withSAAMIstandard headspace, so you can fire factory 280 ammo in your rifle. Caseswill be fire-formed when you extract them. Same with handloads using standard 280 brass.

I tested my 280AI this morning, and there were no issues with the Nosler brass.I went up to 58gr of imr4831 behind a 140gr accubond, and accuracy was very good, with no abnormal brass expansion at all.

It's not that I mind atlering a cartridge but for all that you've got to go threw on this one, is the end result really worth all the trouble and expense ???? Sure the cases will last longer with the sharp shoulder, you may gain 200 or so feet per second.. seems like it's alot for a minimal gain... what will it do that the standard .280 won't, expecially in a hunting firearm.. As for brass, get some LAPUA 30/06 brass and have at it... you'll farther ahead with it than the others.. Still can't see this much for so little...

What trouble and expense?I simply loaded the factory 280AI brass and fired them just like with any other cartridge. There was no case forming or fire forming required.

30-06 cases are .046" short for the 280, its 270 win length.
RR
RR is correct. If you're gonna make 280 OR 280 AI brass out of stuff off the ground at the firing range, use the 270 Win. brass as your parent brass.
Longer neck.
