RE: Blew a primer!!!!! I'm such an idiot. Update on page 2.
Well I went back to my bench a little bit ago and sized a piece of brass and realized I was having trouble with my sizing die yesterday and and I didn't think I sized it all the way down. I compared two pieces of brass on sized completely and one like yesterday and there was a big difference in the neck. I think I caused a headspace issue in the chamber.
Take note from my mistake that you should never get lazy with your reloading. |

usually problem like yours means you had too much headspace adn the brass was rattling around in the chamber.
I love my head and shoulder gauge. |

I would pull the bullets on the rest of that batch and weigh the charges again. The fact that the cases were not new should not cause that problem-just the opposite, in fact. Because the once-fired brass has a bit more capacity than a new case.......
Since the 300 Wea. Mag. headspaces on the belt, the fact that you might have set the shoulder back a little will not cause blown primers. Head separations, maybe later on. |
