i shoot the 139gn hornady ,63.0gn imr 4831 in my savage for deer

120gn hp 65.9gns imr 4831,great long range varmint load in my gun.

I reload for 2 different .284 Winchesters, one being a Mauser I built, and the other is an Browning A-bolt. H380 is THE powder for .284 with 140 gr bullets like I load. IMR 4064 is another good powder for .284.

For the 284, I suggest IMR 4350, RL 22, and H4831. Use the faster powders for lighter bullets.

With those slowww powders (especially 4831), in the .284, you run out of case capacity LONG before reaching decent pressure/velocity. I've tried them.
