Does a max loaded .30-06 bullet greatly out power a max loaded .308 bullet?
I handload both and with some compression.....

My .308, 180s run 2,740 FPS and my .30-06s with 180s run 2,800 FPS........and my .30-06 has 2" longer barrel!

I'm totally surprised that the .308 stands so well against the .30-06 but in my rifles the difference is moot at best
Wow, thats impressive. I barely get over 2600fps with my 308's with 4064 and varget. If you don't mind, what powder you using?

I'm using 46.5 grains IMR-4064...it's well over Hodgdon's max and heavily compressed.....BTW...it shows no pressure signs in my Rem 700 but I don't know what pressure I have....purely guessing at about 63,000 PSI
