Reloading kits
I'm looking to purchase one after the first of the year......Hornady and RCBS........any opinions?
|
RE: Reloading kits
Either is a great choice.
Hornady is offering free bullets with their kit... may be enough to decide between the two |
RE: Reloading kits
Buying the Hornady reloading kit after the first of the year won't do him any good in getting free bullets unless hornady extends their offer. Offer expires Dec. 31. 2008.

RE: Reloading kits
I have been using RCBS for over a decade and more, and really can't complain looking back.
|
RE: Reloading kits
I've been using rcbs products since 1972 and have ALWAYS been satisfied both in quality, and (VERY rarely needed) customer service. Rcbs warranty is so good you could dig up an rcbs product in a field while plowing, send it back, and they would send you a brand new 1 in return! Any company that stands behind their products like that deserve my attention and shows they believe in their products.

RCBS. Good luck.

RE: Reloading kits
Lock N Load seems like it would be a nice feature. It would be compatible with both kits, I think.

RE: Reloading kits
After years of experience with their products, I've gotta recommend RCBS.....JMHO....
|
RE: Reloading kits
The're both good, just get the one that you like the most.

RE: Reloading kits
I'd pass on the kit and buy your stuff individually. You'll end up with better stuff that way.
Any of the money I saved on buying the Lyman kit I will end up spending to upgrade a few of the compenents of the kit. Tom |
RE: Reloading kits
RCBS. Excellent quality, and exceptional warranty service if ever needed.

RE: Reloading kits
i am new to reloadingand also buying a reloader looks like im getting a rcbs any ideas on which kit to buy ,RC Supreme,Pro 2000 auto, turret press kit

RE: Reloading kits
As a Hornady lover, I would say buy the RCBS kit. I like most of what Hornady makes. ., but RCBS balance scales are the best. Hornady scales leave me wanting for more accuracy and sensitivity. The RCBS press has a slight advantage too. Hornady one shot is a better lube system. Also Hornady has easier dies to use and the LNL is a nice deal.
In the end, I would choose RCBS because of the scale, or sell the Hornady scale on Ebay and buy an RCBS 5-10 off Ebay which is better than either kit scale! |

RE: Reloading kits
The only thing I use is turret presses. The main reason I use them is I reload for several different calibers/cartridges, and with turret presses you can have a turret for each individual cartridge, that means I keep each turret in a tupperware container along with shellholders and "dummy" cartridges, along with everything else specific to that cartridge. That keeps all the dies screwed in, adjusted, and locked so that I never have to screw each die in and out for every step/operation/or different cartridge. All you need to do is adjust dies, and when changing caliber/cartridge, just change turrets.

thanks for the info

RE: Reloading kits
If you go progressive, I would suggest not getting a kit. I would suggest a Hornady LNL progressive press, an RCBS 10-10 scale, a Wilson case trimmer, and a Lyman case prep tool. You will need other parts, but those are favorites along with Hornady Pistol dies and Forster rifle dies.

RE: Reloading kits
Forgot to say I've been using RCBS products since 1972 with GREAT service, and on the ONLY 3 times I needed to deal with customer service, they WELL exceeded my expectations, replacing all 3 items for brand new with NO questions.

RE: Reloading kits
likes rcbs but have to say Redding makes the best dies
|
RE: Reloading kits
I've used my RCBS outfit for over 20 years. Its never given me any trouble, I dont think you could wear out a rocker press.
