Measuring groups? .250 Savage Rem 700
 

What is the correct way of measuring groups? Outside hole .380"-bullet dia.257" =.123" ? All I know is it likes this load!!! Harold

Well ,in light of the fact that you have just embarrassed a lot of us on here with that group Harold, I also will say nice shooting and congrats on finding a good load.
I've never been comfortable myself with trying to define the edge of the bullet holes and attempt my best to determine bullet centers of a group. But that's just the way I do it. Your extreme spread edge hole to edge of hole minus the bullet diameter works also... Once again, nice work....

Never did have access to a chronyand it's 2 grains over most manuals but seeing it's in a Rem 700 and showing no preasure signs I could care less about brass life.I open up 22-250 brass with a set of Hornady dies as they have a more tappered expander than RCBS.I imagine it's moving along at 3K or so.Great little deer round.The mulebuck in my avitar wore one two falls ago and he was well over 300lbs live.I have a buddy with a Ruger UL .250 that uses his on moose with no problems.I think I'd switch to a Partition in that case or head /hump shoot E'm.....................Just waiting for Nov1[opening day]Harold

Outside edge to outside edge - .257", yes, I agree that's about the best way to measure this group! You are ONLY making me want a .250 Savage even worse......

I have a buddy who owns one made by Cascade Arms. The action and magazine are just exactly a perfect fit for the Winchester 100-grain factory load. It has an 18" barrel, and is stocked with a Mannlicher-style forend of the nicest figuredwalnut. Light, tastefuls croll engraving on the small-ring receiver, floorplate & near the muzzle. (Too nice a rifle to take into the woods!!)

Ayeee CHEEWOWAHH! I just looked on Auction Arms to see if they had one! They've got a Rem 700 .250 just like yours, and already have 52 bids on it!! Guess that caliber is popular!!

That's how I do it. But don't you hate when you get those nasty flyers? Just kidding. Good shooting. I hope that load is repeatable for you. Next time try 5 shot groups. Just to see what happens.

Mine is the Classic made one year I think it was 1995? I'd love a matching one in 6.5x55 I never take 5 shots at game and I'm not a paper puncher other than working out loads for hunting.The guy I bought this from had one in .257 Roberts as well.....................Harold
