Herman - that is one heck of a group out of that Ruger at 300 yds. Wish you would have shot two more. If you can duplicate that group, or even get close, that's the load I would use in that rifle. That is darn close to 0.1 MOA which is almost perfect. At 100 yds it would have been a one holer.

Would you believe that I bought that ruger at the rifle range for $300 because the fellow couldn't shoot it because of the recoil.
Berger only sent one box so was limited to what powders to try.I wanted to try them in the 7mm and the 7/08.
I saved enough to check zero in both rifles and to hunt with so I can get back to them with the results.
The BC on these 140grs is .509 and the twist rate is 1:11 or faster.According to berger they are for game and target.
I shot some of their 140's in my savage 260( I call it a savage 260 because I changed the savage 243 barrel to a shelin 1:8 twistx26 in) tuesday.I got a 5-shot group that measured 7/8 of an in at 300 yds.The BC on those are.593.

Below are some loads I worked up for my REM 700 Mtn LSS 7mm-08. Please note the powder charges in red are over book max. I settled on the 145 Speer HotCor's for my primary hunting load although I do keep some of the 154 Grn Hornady Round Nose on hand for "woods" hunting.
I also picked up a REM 7600 pump in 7mm-08 and it loves the 145 Speers and the 154 Hornady RN's as well. The 7600 is now my "go to" hunting rifle and I'm hanging on to the MTN LSS for when my son gets a little older. Here is a couple of my "best group" targets shot with the 7600 and these two loads. In general the 7600 average groups are between 3/4"-1" but when conditions are perfect and I do my part I sometimes get excellent results like these. (Note: Dark squares are 1/2" diameter and the light squares are 1/4" diameter)
(PS: on this speer target I forgot to subtract bullet diameter.)
Good luck finding a load that works for you!

Thanks. Those were some great groups you posted as well. Lovemy 7mm-08's...both of them. What model Rem 7mm-08 are you shooting?
