Lower demand for RUM's compared to other chamberings dictates a lesser degree of production which affects availability. When production resumes it'll be there again.
Another aspect is the Feds get all of their ammo from private contractors and guess what, Remington is a private contractor. We seem to be involved in a war right now, in case you didn't notice, and I'm gonna take wild stab at it and say that the need for war production supercedes anything in the private sector......

I don't think the 300 RUM is going away anytime soon. If it was, why would Remington be developing the Power Level Ammo for the 300 RUM? The Brass is out of production until the retool for another 300 RUM run.
