Default Anyone have a good recipe for a .270.

Well I got my new reloading gear and I'm eager to start. It may be a few weeks thoughthe wife and I are moving but from our new house I can hear the shots coming from the shooting range and almost see the shooting sheds.

I want to know if any of you have a good starting recipe for me. I have a few data manuels but they have so many to choose from its crazy. I'm shooting my name sake and like speed and accuracy, but accuracy more than anything.

So what's your bestcombinations? What's it group and what's its velocity?

53-55gr of IMR4350 and 130gr gameking or bullistic tip is my goto round for MD deer. But I have had great luck in a buddies gun with 48gr of IMR4064 and 130gr pills.

I don't reload or have the manuals, but I know my .270 loves federals 130gr soft point load, just the cheap old federals....so if you have that load listed.....

Out of my BAR holes touch....3 shot groups @100ydsI'd say 1/2"overall (not center to center).

130gr Sierra (PH or Gameking) seated to the lands, IMR 4831 as hot as you care to take it. Fast and pretty accurate.

I agree with the use of IMR 4350 in the .270 WCF. I found that while I got more velocity with H4831, my best accuracy with 130-grain bullets came with 55.5 grains of IMR 4350, and with 150-grain bullets, 53.5 grains of IMR 4350 was best. This with Nosler Partition bullets.

In both cases, velocity was plenty adequate, even though less than I used toget with H4831.

Would you happen to have those velocity figures? I'm interested. Thanks.

I've had good luck with 130 grain bullets loaded on top of 55.0 grains of IMR-4350!

Well, yes. I shot those loads in 20" Mannlicher-Sdhoenauer carbine barrels of 20" length and 1/9" twist. The 130's went 2950 FPS, and I got just over 2800 with the 150's.

I have excellent results using 55 gr of IMR4350 and the 130 Gameking or Nosler Ballistic Tip.
