RE: Anyone have a good recipe for a .270.
I haven't started loading my 270win just yet , but I am tring the 140gr accubond with H4831SC first. The 140gr Partition & B-Tip are other optionsI will try out but the accubond will most likely do anything from antilope to elk close or far. The 140gr Hornady Spire Point BT is another bullet to look at.
What distances are you shooting at and at what game? And what is your barrel length 22" or 24"? |
RE: Anyone have a good recipe for a .270.
I've shot everything from antelope to moose with Hornady 130gr handloads in Win cases ,Fed mag primers and 57gr of IMR 4831............No you don't need a 50BMG for moose..................Harold

RE: Anyone have a good recipe for a .270.
I hear ya I have an hand me down 35rem that has taken a few moose but it is quit a cannon at less than 100 yards.
My 270 win likes the 150 & 140s being the the best. There are so many choices in 270 Winammo I haven't had to load for it yet. Started reloading first to get back to the old Express 35 Rem velocities in my 336, and then for the 358 Win. Now that I have hand taylored loads for themthe 270 win will be next and then the 35 whelen. Not knowing what grain bullets some one's gun likes the best I usually advise the 140gr bullets. Between Nosler & Hornady all the different bullet types are covered (Partition, B-Tip, Accubond, & InterLock). |
