RE: Loose primer pockets?

I had the same problem with the Federal brass loading for my 7mm mag. Got it cheap and it was. Now only loading with Rem. Case life is lots longer.

ORIGINAL: Wilds

Ironic that a guy named "Hotburn" is asking about loose primer pockets........
That does sound kinda bad in way. I was to young to remember, but grandparents lived next door to us and I spent alot of time over there. Grandpa and my uncle would drink alot of coffee, and I had to fit in so they gave me hot tea. I think if I remember right I spilled it right in the lap of my grandpa and that was what he yelled as it ran down his leg, so they called me that for a while. When I found this site, all the "cool" names was not available and that name came to mind, now I use it on every board I am on along with my birth year.

Ditto and ditto !

Reloading 4-5-6 + times is usually about a max. A "loose" primer pocket, and there are other signs as well, is a sure sign that the cases are done. A good way to render these unusable is to crush the neck in the jaws of a set of pliers.

I had 100 new Win .270 brass that lasted near 10 years for casual shooting and big game hunting before necks started cracking.I find Rem brass a little on the hard side and cracking on the 3-5th reload.Your mileage may vary.......................Harold
