Help with primers.
I need some help switching primers due to the war. I use Federal 215-Large Magnum Rifle primers for several guns. I have not found any Federal 215 primers on the shelf in the past couple of months.
What other primers can I switch over to and still get the same results??? The rifles I am reloading for are as follows: 2-300-win mags 2-340-Weatherby's 1-7mm-STW 1-7mm Remington Ultra Mag. Thanks for the help, WK |
RE: Help with primers.
Other people make magnum primers ,but that said they also have a different burn rate so you might need to test your load results again using another primer . Easier to keep looking if you can wait awhile .

RE: Help with primers.
You can also use CCI 250 LR Mags and Remington 9 1/2 M but you will need to work up the load with them like you did with the Federals.

bigcountry,
I live in Wyoming. I am looking at every mom & pop country store I can find. I have also looked onlineat Cabelas & Midway USA. I can not find any store with a supply of Federal-215 primers.[:o] IF I ever find a store that has them, I will buy all they have in stock. |

RE: Help with primers.
I think I will hold off on buying other primers & "re-working" up loads for my rifles. I will place a order for them & wait in line. I have found in thepast, Federal 215's worked best for me.

RE: Help with primers.
I use the Winchester WLRM"s in the Weatherby's and in the 300 Winchester's. I also use them in the 25 06. I have found them to be more consistant than any other that I have tried. IMO they give a hotter, more consistant burn than any of the others. Velocity deviation is less with them than the others too, enhancing accuracy.

wolf killer,
I contacted federal about three months ago and talked with someone in the sales dept.....they had invoices a year old for Fed 215 Primers. I could not wait that long. Luckily bigcountry got some for me. |
RE: Help with primers.
I took a quick look at Cabelas wesite. They are backordering Federal 215M primers two to three weeks. They are, I think, $31.50 on their site. With their purchasing power, I am quite certain you are going to have a tough time finding them. Best to get in line at Cabelas and wait things out.
