.284 Win Cartridge.. NE1 Reload this????

Hey guys. i got a BLR .284 Win.
I bought gun used, and the previoius owner used to reload and so he sold me the gun with the parts needed to reload. Now if i was into it, and the time and money to buy the equipment .. i would reload. no time or money here.. so my question. anyone here reload this bullet? if so.. would you like to sell me some reloads? now right now, but sometime in the future.. obviously if you have a .284 win you know a box of bullets is around $40 +
which i think is nutts. only company/brand to make this bullet is the winchester super X .284 win
crazy.. its a monopoly.. someone told me just to sell this gun since its such an explensive load, and so uncommon, but.. i love the gun, shoots great, has lots of power.. and might just be more of a collectable since theres onlya handfull around.. your take? thanks cuzz

ckrimits,

I would reload the 284 Winchester if you like the cartridge and gun. If you reload you open yourself up to a huge selection of bullet manufactures and weights. The brass will be expensive in the beginning, but with the proper care should last you. You can also use the popular 6.5mm-284 Winchester (Norma) brass and resize them to 284 Winchester with little to no effort.

For reloading data, go to http://data.hodgdon.com or http://www.accuratepowder.com/loadda...ard_284cal.htm

Take a look at the link below, for a sale on Winchester Super-X Ammunition 284 Winchester 150 Grain Power-Point Box of 20 for $29.19. This is still expensive, but might help.

You should price a box of .308 Norma Magnums if you want to have a stroke $80 a box. I FL resize .338 Win Mag cases or you can use .300 H+H.Reloading is cheaper in the long run and you can make many different loads you can't buy.Take the plunge.....................Harold

The .284 is one of the world's GREAT cartridges, a brilliant design. It was just way ahead of its' time. If he gave you the dies, it would be worthwhile to purchase a cheap single-stage press and an old powder scale off of e-bay then get a decent loading manual. Thenyou can load the ammo yourself at a lot lower cost. If you don't do a lot of ahooting, you could load a year's supply in just one evening..........

Unless one has a Federalammunition manufacturer's license, it ius illegal to load ammo for other people. I get around this by showing the "customer" how to load the ammo, and watch while they do it using my equipment. That way, the person "loaded their own".....
