Your obvious disconnection with the english language and the cyphering of such greatly compliments your inability to read/post in a straight line........couple that with your cool headed demeanor and you make quite an asset on the web.

Though I feel little compulsion to hold your hand each and every time you don't "get" something....I'll humor you this one time.

Out to 300 things are pretty much a no brainer per informed choice ofchambering/bullet/ scope/ ect. Past that is where things start to get Sporty and few can actually grasp the nuances of the concept, nor want to...

Hence, Life begins........unless one is a Pro like yourself.

Call F&S, they'd love to do an article........

Proving you a hot headed halfwit net jockey is easy, as you do most of the work for us....

Have you addressed the question asked in this thread or do you just hang out to find as muchfault as you can?

I'd suggestProzac as I've heard it helps with the root cause.......

Feathers, that 85gr Sierra HPBT is a fine bullet for deer out to 300 yards, I've killed several with it at that range, some were over 200, some not...I've also killed a couple of black bears in my peanuts with it as well, they weren't 300 yards, but they were over 300 pounds...One of the local farmers has used that bullet since the 80s, he told me over breakfast a few years back that he had killed 8 bears with it...

I am not directing this comment toward any particular person here. But I would bet that 95% or more ofhunters could not even hit a deer at 300 yards. As a matter of fact(observation), most hunters have little ability to judge the difference between 250,. 350, and 450 yards.

250 yards and up is where the shooting begins, and the throw some lead at the target ends.

If you want to effectively kill larger big game at distances past 250 yards, then you first need to upgrade your caliber. IMO the 243 is not an effective cartridge on larger big game past 250 yards.

A lot of people try to make a bullet do something that a caliber was not designed for. Trying to choose a proper bullet for the 243 is searching for a band aid that does not really exist.

Step up your caliber for the satisfaction you are loking for. I know I will get flamed for giving my opinion that the 243 is not adequate. But I really believe it is not adequate. Tom.

I'd willingly take 10 yard pokes everytime if the cards were dealt as such....every time.

Knowing your gear beyond two or three "sighters" a year puts you in that top 5%, if only by default.

An LRF of known"gooditude", coupled with twisting turrets makes "long range" simple to the practiced eye....almost couldcall it cheating.

Everything I own is zero'd for 250 so I might could be spoiled in that regard.....

The 85X killsas no other per 6mm offerings.....like it has eyes.

No flame intended.............

I think you nailed it H1. I've had so many guys tellme about the 250 yard shot they made. then I ask, where were you and where was the deer. If it was 150yards I'd be surprised. Jim Carmichal (spelling?) from outdoor life once wrote that he couldn't believe how many guys that watch football can't judge range in 100 yard increments.
