RE: .243 Long Range Bullet
There is quite a stretch between 250 or 300 yards and 1000ish yards, and would figure you to know that.
I'm staying within context of the original posted query, per .243 win at that mark,if only to show that you can't.
It's humorous you'd consider 250 or 300,"longrange"........

wilds is so FOS! last time he posted on shooting he wasn't interested in long range, now all of a sudden he is, and he does it with an 85 gr in 243? everybody who knows anything about extended range shooting knows BC will outrun velocity every time.

85gr may be light but would get the job done I suspect.
When I think .243 on deer/antelope I think 90-100gr as pretty standard, and 300yds I don't think of as very long/out there type of range, certainly a .243 can do the job at that range with just about any bullet in the 90-100gr range. I think any premium bullet in that range combined with a boat tail will help retain some energy for ya, if you have the barrel for something heavier those might work better, though then I think of reduced velocity, though they should retain velocity better, really any premium bullet over 90grs with a boattail I think would work great.

Ridge Runner,
If you go to the top of your screen you'll see some little numbers up there on the right, at present it is a "1" and a "2".
Click on the "1" with that little thingy in your hand called the "mouse" and the first page of this thread will magically pop up for you....all by itself.
Go to the very first post, that's at the very top of the page, and read what istypedthere.
Here is what it says, in part, just in case you get lost along the way:
"What would you suggest for a deer over 200 lbs., at say 250 to 300 yards?"
Try to answer that question Mr. Expert, without drifting off into whatever world you mightoccupy today, staying in context would be a plus if you can possibly muster it.....
You can thank me later........
