RC supreme vs rock chucker
Sooooo, if I haven't owned a rock chucker for thirty years and am looking to buy a press is the RC supreme of equal quality? Will it last me for thirty years if I get started tomorrow? Is there a better press I should buy for equal money, loading 45-70, 45ACP, 44 mag, 270, 30-06 etc???

RE: RC supreme vs rock chucker
I have a RC Supreme and to be quite honest your old RC will do anything it will. The differences I am aware of - larger opening (window) for larger cases such as the RUMs and slightly more leverage. It will last well beyond my requirements and I use mine everyday.

RE: RC supreme vs rock chucker
Where the sepreme shines is with long cartridges like the 7mmSTW, 300RUM, etc. Also, I love the sepremes primer collection.
I do not have a sepreme but my buddy on here, mossyoak33, does and I wouldn't mind having one. But the difference is not enough for me to go buy one when I have the old one already. What I want is a t7 turret press. |

That's what I'm going to buy...if my 30 yr old RS3 ever gives out on me :)

RE: RC supreme vs rock chucker
The only presses I ever heard of "giving out" were some of the little cheapy C presses. I don't think anyone with an RCBS has much hope of outliving it.[:-]
And there is one small down side to owning a bigger, taller press. This means a longer stroke to size every case. If you don't really need it, this adds up to quite a bit of wasted motion. Of course the payback is the bigger the press, the more leverage going for you. So I guess it evens out. |
RE: RC supreme vs rock chucker
the supreme is the most solid press i've ever felt. i own one and i a completely confident that my grandchildren will be loading with it. . . . . . that is unless we get hillary in office............. i think a good democrat president is the only thing capable of breaking an RCBS (any dems out there sorry if i offended you but i'm doubtful a democrat is on a hunting website.....)

RE: RC supreme vs rock chucker
I think that the A4 or Big Max is the beefiest press RCBS ever made. I like it because it is turned around and
lets you tilt it backwards. You can set it up so gravitity will let sized brass fall back into a bin. Unfortunately, it wasn't a big seller and RCBS dropped idt from the line after only being available for a short time. The RC Supreme looks like a very strong press. I'm assuming it's cast iron and not aluminum. |
RE: RC supreme vs rock chucker
I just picked up the Rock Chucker Supreme and I think that I will wear out before it does. I checked out quite a few beforehand both online and in person and it seems to be the best by far.
