Is lock time measureable??
I just put a new timney trigger in my Weatherby Vanguard
300 WSM and I think my lock time has really improved..Is this possible or is it just because the trigger is better? |
RE: Is lock time measureable??
A good or bad trigger has nothing to do with lock time.
Lock time is the time it takes the firingpin to move foward andignite the primer frominstant the sear breaks. In order to decrease lock time you must either decrease the weight of the firing pin and cocking piece, increase firing pin spring weight, or both. There are other ways also but they requires polishing, honing, etc... |

Yes, lock times can be(and are) measured. But itrequires a timer setup like a chronograph to measure the milliseconds that elaspe between when the striker is released and when it stops on hitting the primer. |

When you put a "GOOD" trigger on a rifle, you have a hard time knowing when the rifle is going to go off. I have done the same thing, and it seems like the rifle is going off faster. But IMO it is not, it just seems that way. Tom.
