reloading 300wsm
In tryed reloading my 300wsm and all the rounds I reloaded would not shut in the rifle I have. I resized all my shells to factory sizes and the bolt would not shut all the way. What am I doing wrong?

RE: reloading 300wsm
Well now..I had the same problem with mine..In a wheatherby vanguard..
I sent 3 boxs of winchester ammo back and they sent me 3 new boxs.. The factory stuff, could not be resized no matter what I did to it...The nickel plated cases,I had no problem with...What case are you using?what make rifle? Did you trim you cases to sammi specs? Was you die screwed down touching the shell holder and then a tad bit more...Are you using the correct OAL length? |
RE: reloading 300wsm
What you want to do before loading is,make sure the cases
go in the chamber and bolt closes before loading..If they work good then and after you load them,it is usually a problem with the OAL being tottotoooo long... |
RE: reloading 300wsm
Nine times out of ten the reason for brass that will not chamber is improper set up of the resizing die. Make sure you are bumping the shoulder back far enough when you FL size your brass. Tell us how you have your FL die set up, what kind of dies and press. Also make sure that the inside of the neck is clean and has a slight amount of lube. Pulling the expander button back through the neck can pull the shoulder forward.
My guess is you need to turn your FL die in more so as to bump the shoulder back! Or, if these are loaded rounds make sure that you have the seating die set up high enough to eliminate any chance of an unwanted crimp. |

3sm:
Check your Over All Cartridge Length. Can you see rifling marks on the bullet's ogiveafter trying to close the bolt? Good luck. |
RE: reloading 300wsm
This subject has been discussed many times. Do a search and you will find some great advice. I will state the obvious. Do a smoke test on your bullet, then your shoulder, then your case body. Do your smoke test in that order. I am pretty sure you will find your problem real easy. Then as stated above you should readjust your die. Tom.
