Ready to buy my 1st reloading kit, what's best? Hornady, RCBS, etc?
What do you guys recommend. Im not buying a progressive kit and will mostly being using it for pistols cartridges starting off. I seen in a magazine that hornady was including 500 free bullets with its lock and load classicreloading kit and 100 more with purchase of new dimension dies, or do i need to go with the RCBS kit or others? I am open to suggestions, thanks for your help.

For what it's worth,I like the Lyman turret press. Why? Because you
can put all your dies on it at one time. You can also get extra turrets and have other dies for another rifle or hand gun all set to go. I used to use all RCBS,but I really like the Lyman..I use Lee dies most of the time..I'm sure you will get more replies on this.. Good luck in which ever outfit you decide is best for you... |

I've almost always use RCBS reloading products. But I do ownthe new Hornady dies in 405 Win only because I didn't like the bullet seater die from RCBS for seatingthe spire point bullets(it was made for a flat point). Personally I would go with RCBS.

I've used all three and I think RCBS is the smoothest. Lyman dies are inferior of the other two. But I really don't like "Kits" as I don't think much of the combined stuff they put in them. I particularly do not like RCBS powder measures. They are particularly poor for small pistol charges. I like the Lyman powder measure best. RCBS used to just offer a press and dies "kit." I would get that and them buy my other parts elsewhere. JMHO Turret presses are not famous for building accurate ammo. Redding and RCBS dies will give you the best service.

RCBS Rockchucker. Best of the lot, IMO. Great for forming cases too. Lots of power and smooth operation. You will never wear it out.

As far as kits go I would get the Rock Chucker kit. If you were just buying a press individually I would recommend the Lee Classic Press. It is as heavy or even heavier made than the Rock Chucker and quite a bit cheaper but the rest of Lee stuff is inferior IMO. I do like the Lee Easy Prime though.
