7mm Rem Mag, 140gr Accubonds
 

Does anyone have any loads for a 140gr. Accubond that have been pretty quick and accurate? I have load books and stuff, just looking for real life data.

I have a tried and tested load , killed 5 deer from 5 yds to 175 yds, and am very pleased with the load, very acurate. Never shot these until this year, I used ,140 gr accubonds, 67 1/2 gr of RL22 fed 215 lrg mag primer col of 3.290 my 7 mag is a rem mod 700 , I think they run at about 3000, I shot several other bullets and like the results of this load the last deer I shot was standing broadside at 175 yds the bullet entry was about the size of a half dollar and the exit was a little bigger, with a very impresionable amount of shock, I personaly liked the results on deer compared to some other loads I tested on deer in previous yrs, I also loaded this exact load for a friend and his rem 700 shot them very accurate as well. good luck jeepkid

Thank you very much. I'm going to the Sportsman Warehouse this weekend to buy some, so I'll report back on how they work.;)

I use the same powder - RL-22 at 67.5 grains -with Winchester WLRM primers. I have an A-bolt eclipse with the BOSS and my chamber is a little long (distance to lands with the accubond is 3.352") and I set the oal at 3.336 to 3.338" Accuracy is very impressive - not uncommon to shoot 5-shot, 1/2" groups at 100yds (with the BOSS set at 2.6). This comes out at 3050fps. I have moved up to 68.5 grains with no pressure issues and just modest velocity increases - 50 to 75 fps, but accuracy is about the same.

Fishhead has it right - great holes in deer. If you're used to a small entry and big exit, get ready for big entry and big exit. The deer seem to drop a little quicker with the Accubond than with the TSX bullets, in my experience.

That seems a little slow, I was hoping to get around 3200-3300 with them...

I loaded some 140 barns TSX with 70 gr RL 22 fed 215 lrg mag primer and did kill several deer with that load . They were running 3200 fps .but I like the accubonds better because they are 1 cheaper to load 2 very accurate, 3 more shocking power ,thus I got the bang flop on all 5 deer killed this year, I was on at 200 and 5 in low at 300. This is what I found in these two loads and is my opinion," I'm just a fawn "lol .

Sounds like your gonna be runnin a pretty hot load to get what you want...

I'd be careful if I were you...Your gonna have that thing steamin.....

But what do I know about the 7MM.......Correct me if I'm wrong..

Yeah, it should be pretty warm. I was looking at Noslers loads, but that was with R19. The other powders were about the same as mentioned above.

I've found 3300fps very doable in most every 7 I've loaded for. Nosler's powder charges will give you 200-300fps less than they show with the same charge with all the 140/7mag loads I've chronoed. Thier velocities can be reached but you must tilt the powder can. I've found 70grs of R22 will give me 3310fps with Accubonds in my 26" tube. I only got to about 3200fps with R19, IMR4831and Magprobefore I saw high pressure. I think 19 istoofast for 140's in the 7. Of course you need tobeginat the bookstart chargesand work up slowly as all guns are different.

jeepkid - You will like the 140gr AccuBonds. I've been shooting them since they came out, I'm using a max load of RL22, and I don't have a chronograph, so I can't tell ya what they're running.

This is actually the first year I didn't shoot anything besides paper with them. I used the 120gr Barnes TSX this year, cranked as hot as the handbook said. I really need to buy a Chrony to see whats going on.

Hopefully they will work out. I ran a bunch different bullets through a ballistics calculator and they came out on top in pretty much everything. Even better then the Bergers and A-Max's past 400 yards.

I use H4831 with the 140-grain Nosler Partition bullet in my Ruger No. 1 7mm Rem Mag., and I get 3350 FPS @ 10' from the muzzle of the 26" barrel. But MY load might be too hot for your rifle. IF you want to try to work up to it, in 0.5 grain increments, start at 66 grains. Work up until you get the best accuracy and/or the velocity you want! LOOK FOR PRESSURE PROBLEMS while working up! Quit increasing the powder charge if you get any!! Drop 5% from any charge that gives excessive pressure indications (like loosening primer pockets, sticky bolt lift, etc.)

I've noted pretty much the same things as hunter discovered. Nosler velocities are very optimistic for those powder charges. They must have a very "fast" barrel!

I agree mwith the others that Nosler numbers are "optimistic". My Rem Mag likes RL22 and I need to go to the 70gr area to achieve them with 140gr bullets. Liked mentioned work up slowly and at the first sign of excessive pressure back off.

As far as the AB i have only shot paper with the 140's but have used thre 160's for deer, elk and moose. I was happy with the performance. For whatever reason the AB's haven't been the best in terms of accuracy in my rifle, their good I just have other loads that shoot great and dowhat I need.BTW isn't indicative to the AB IME, I have loaded them for several other rifles with excellent results on paper.
