I have noticed there are a lot of powder manufacturers out and would like to have an idea what everyone's favorite brand is. I have looked at Alliant but am still undecided. What would everyone suggest for a .270 Win?

I have used IMR4064, IMR4350, H4831sc, IMR7828, and lastly H1000. All worked, but the most dynamic powder was IMR4350 and best all around performance with bullets 130gr to 150gr.

IMR 4350 and H4831 are as close to a guaranteed powder for the .270 IME. As far as Alliant powder RL19 showed well in a couple rifles.

Depending on which/how many cartridge types you are reloading, there is no such thing as a "favorite brand" of powder. For example, in your .270, brands I would consider using wouldinclude Accurate Arms, IMR, Hodgdon, Norma. Alliant, and VV. Powders for the .270 might include AA 4350, IMR 4350, IMR 7828, H4831, H4350, Norma MRP1, Norma N204, and Alliant RL 22 and RL 19.

Of all of thesepossibilities, my favorite powder for my .270 WIN. loads is IMR 4350-not because it gives the highest velocity, but because it delivers the best accurtacy I can get with both 130 and 150-grain bullets, and with adequate velocity levels for my purposes. The highest velocity loads I had for my .270 was with Hodgdon H4831, but these loads were not the most accurate, so I quit using them......

IMR4350 or H4831...Hmmmm..Does this sound like a broken record..??...

Whatever, any .270 I ever loaded for would shoot well with one or the other, usually BOTH...

Don't overlook H4831sc with 140gr accubond. My buddy Mossyoak33 on here got some great results with it. I was impressed.
