Hornady SST
Hello all,
Myself and a friend have recently decided we are going to start reloading since he inherited all of the stuff from his dad and the cost of factory is getting ridiculous. I wanted to reload accu-tip because that is what I have been using from Remington. But when I was looking at bullets the other day I ran across the Hornady SST bullets. They are the same price as the noslers I can get 100 instead of 50. And the articles I have found on them seem to be pretty promising bullets. Does anyone here reload them and what is your opinion of them?

RE: Hornady SST
load them and love them. they work. i shot a big doe this year in Ks. at 277 steps and she dropped wher she stood. i then shot a big 9 at about 175 and he staggered back three steps and tipped over. the only shot i had on the 9 was facing me, i used a bipod and was prone. i know this in not one of the best shots out ther but i have been shooting this same rifle for several years and you know how that one goes, you look, shoot and hit. im by no means a match shooter or anything like that but i had 100% confidance in my gear and ability and put the steaks in the freezer. btw, this was done with a 243 and i am pushing the 95gr. sst at about 3000fps.

I have used them on deer with my muzzy, and pronghorn in my .270, devastating results on both, and very accurate. I have some loaded in 06, and I will try them this coming weekend on deer. I ruined the off side shoulder in the muzzzle loader deer, I have never seen one bullet do so much damage, but the only place she went after the shot was down, that's the way I like it.

I tried them in my 7-08 and couldn't get them to shoot as well as the old interlocks of the same weight. The same for my .223 vs the Nosler ballistic tips. I can't speak for the 30 cal bullets. I have good luck with the Hornady Interlocks and Sierra Game Kings in my '06.
