Corn vs. Walnut media
Is there a place to use one media over the other?
|
RE: Corn vs. Walnut media
I don't think so, good question. I have found that the walnut lasts longer, but because of allergies I prefer to use the corn. Both work well for me.

Walnut is a better cleaner and corn is better for polishing. You can use just one though. If I had to use just one, I would use walnut. Clean is more important than pretty.

I have used both over the years and haven't see a difference
in either one. http://www.hunting-pictures.com/memb...ght&encore.jpg |
RE: Corn vs. Walnut media
I find the walnut cleans much faster than corn.

I have used walnut only seems to work well. Good luck.

I have always used corncob because there seemed to be less dust . I also went to the pet store and bought ground corncob that they use in bird cages in a 25# bag . it works fine .

RE: Corn vs. Walnut media
I use walnut to clean cases as soon as they come back from the range. After resizing, I then switch to treated corncob in order to remove all case lube and to give the shells a nice polish.
Either will get the job done, but walnut seems to kick up so much more dust that I hate to use it as a final cleaning before loading. "Every moving thing that liveth, I give unto you as meat" (Gen 9:3) Trust God..........but keep your powder dry! |

You have a point Mark.

I have always used corncob media treated with Midway's Brass Polish. It shines my brass up like new provided you don't let it get in bad shape to start with. Even then it will still clean it, just takes a lot longer.
