Good deer bullet in caliber .308 win

A 180 grain bullet at around 2500 FPS would damage less meat, but you might have to trail a deer shot with this weight of bullet farther than if you used a 150 grain at higher velocity. The Ballistic Tip is pretty soft, and expands rapidly.

For deer I have always used 150 gr SP or PSP jacketed bullets ,but lately have gone to the Barnes 150 gr XBT . Loaded to around 2800 fps it makes a very accurate round in my rifle . If you do your part the damage is at a minimum with these bullets ,but a bad hit with anything will give you excessive damage .
