Bullet Removers

How in the world do you use the kinetic bullet removers that look like a hammer? I tried to use mine, but I am am having trouble getting it to work. I am not too sure about banging a live round in that thing. How hard do you hit the thing? I put a bullet in an empty case to try mine.

I have tried hitting it on a table and with a mallet. The main problem I have is the bullet slipping out.

Light bulb!! I think I have been doing this backwards. I have been putting the case inside the cavity of the remover and trying to grasp the bullet with the collet. That is what I mean by slipping out. It comes out of the collet. Should the bullet be facing down into the cavity? Sorry for my ignorance, but that is why I asked the question.

Yes it's like chambering a round when you are set up correctly you'll see the primer. after the bullet is pulled the bullet and powder drop into the hammer. 3-4 sharp blows ( like driving a nail ) should give you an empty case.

The last time I used mine I had bought a bunch of .44 mag loads, and I don't shoot anyone elses loads but my own so I pulled all 200 rounds. They were supposed to be all the same load according to the person that loaded them; but when I pulled them it was obvious they weren't and some weren't even charged.

Good Luck

Go to Sears.....buy a fencing tool called a pinchers....it cuts wire nicely..... put a round in the press and raise it until the pinchers can hold the bullet and pull the case back in the press.....whammo the bullet is removed.....the bullet may be destroyed but it might not make a difference either.....depends on how many you want to pull.....also check Forester for a fantastic bullet puller.....I'd scrap those kinetic hammers.....they scare the hell out of me!@!!

A tip ! To keep from hurting the tip of you bullets, your are pounding out, place a half a piece of paper towel[balled up] in the discharge end of the remover. It will get powder on it,but you can shake it out. This will cushion the bullet tip, instead of banging off the hard plastic chamber .

Another tip. If you are pulling bullets from military ammo, or ammo that has the bullet crimped, or very old ammo where the bullet has "fused" to the inside of the case neck, use a seating die and push the bullet back INTO the case a fraction of an inch, to break it loose from the case mouth before putting it into the hammer. This makes it a lot easier for the bullet to slide out of the case.

Keep yore powder dry!!
