otis-The 180gr failsafe or barnes x will out penetrate even the 220gr partition.Check out the shooting times or handloader bullet tests and you will see that these bullets greatly outpenetrate any others tested including partitions. The failsafe and barnes x bullets are not even made in the heavier weights because the extra weight is just not required.

I reload Nosler 180 Gr. Ballistic Tips for my nephew. They are used solely for whitetail deer and the effect of a properly placed shot are devastating. They shoot well out of his Rem.700 also. I would go with the 180 gr. if your quarry is deer size game or smaller.

I prefer the 200 grainers in .30 cal., and think this new Nosler 200-grain Accubond, with a BC of .58, is the cat's Meow, or the Bee's Knees, even!!

Keep yore powder dry!!

I like the 180s in my 300WM. No special reason except they do what I want from my gun.
