RE: 338 Mag Pet Loads
225 gr. Barnes X RL-22 Min. 73.0 grs. @ 2782 f/s; Max. 78.0 grs. @ 2919 f/s. As always start with Min. load. Three shot groups .75" @ 100 yds. I used this data for my cousins Browning A-Bolt; he has killed 4 oryx with this load. All animals were shot in the shoulder; they were all pass throughs execpt 1. Max distance was 200 yds. Good luck.

RE: 338 Mag Pet Loads
Not going to telyou the weights, but for me RL 19 for my hunting loads, as it give s me a bit more velocity, and practice use RL 22, for lower pressure.
ONe of the really neat thigs about the 338, is in the lower 48, any weight of bullet works. I prefer the 250 gr as it doesn't get shoved around by the wind and carries its energy all the way out, but a 200 holds its own, and is plenty hard hitting. |
