Load suggestions for .270 Win

My dad just bought a new .270 and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good load for this.
He'll be using it mostly for whitetail hunting. Probably something in the 130-140grain range.

Thanks :)

The load Robert suggests is a good one. You may also want to try the 130gr Hornady Spire Point. Just about all .270-cal rifles seem to like this bullet, including the various magnums. The thing is a tremendous slayer of deer-sized game, too. <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

You may also want to try and work up a load for the 140gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claw. If you can develop an accurate, fast load for this bullet, with your .270 you can pretty much hunt anything in North America that doesn't hunt back.

I know all loads shoot differently in different rifles. But I have a load that I have seen fantastic in several 270's.

IMR 4064 47grains
Fed 210 primer
COL:3.3&quot;
SIERRA 130gr Boattail

Another one that is not as good but 50fps faster
IMR 4350 53grains
Fed 210 primer
COL:3.3&quot;

Thanks guys! I'll pass the info on.
Seattle....I use the Hornady SPBT in 139 gr in my .280....I agree, it is an awesome bullet. I've killed alot of deer with them, and had very few animals even take a step. I'm sure there are plenty of good performing bullets out there, but since I started using it....I haven't tried any others. I'm sure he'll find something his gun likes.
Thanks again....:)

WV Hunter - I've had really good luck with the 139gr Hornady in 7mm-08, .284 Win and 7mm Wby Mag. Devastating results on deer! Again, all the .284-cal rifles seem to like it.

get a Hodgdon data manual.....use a Hornady 140 grain spire point with a large rifle primer and 58 grains of H-4831.....(listed as a max load)...3051'/sec....bad news for a whitetail!!!
