reloading for other people?
 

i don't know if it is legal or not. but after trying to find someone that i know or someone i know who knows someone that reloads to teach has brought me to a dead end.
cannot find anyone to teach me so i can feel good trying it myelf. so i was wondering if anyone here reloads for other people? i not asking to make them hot. just looking for the rounds to be like you would buy from the fectory. i would like to try some 225gr. ballistic tips

Quilly...I reload for FAMILY ONLY! It's legal to reload for someone if you don't get paid for it,if you do get paid,you need a FFL or don't get caught! Reloading is not hard at all,just need a little bit of &quot;brains&quot;...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I've had a friend load for me for many years. I cook up the recipe (and he usually makes it better, being the accuracy nut, and all) and buy the components. I normally buy an extra box of premium bullets or two, in calibers he uses, which I leave behind at his place. I never ask for them back. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

there could be some serious liability in what you ask. Buy a simple starter kit, and a manual. go slow, one stage at a time. reloading is easy and fun. there are really only a couple of steps. some vary the order but the steps don't change

1. resize and deprime
2. clean the brass, primer pocket included
3. chamfer the case mouth
4. re prime
5. add a carefully measured amount of powder under the maximum
load advertised
6. seat the bullet.

Most of these steps are done with a single pull of a lever. I would recommend a single stage O type press for a beginner. If there are any questions that the mannual can't answer we will answer them here.

Have you looked into NRA certified reloading instructors? I have yet to look into this myself, but am considering it. I'm still going through the various books, and while I have equipment on order, I still need to get the dies, build a workbench, etc. Maybe this link will help.

I'm with jed and Robert Scott on this. I am buying a starter kit and accessories over the next few months and will start loading for myself. I'm having a custom rifle built in .338-06 A-Square and even though it is now commercially loaded, there isn't much to choose from. Handloading should make this cartridge/rifle/optics combination one of the most versatile around.

I am looking forward to the challenge!

Quilly, it's not hard to pick up on. I started watching a friend reload, then bought a couple of manuals and studied. As long as you stay withing published load data you'll be ok. If it helps Sierra has videos available for rifle and handgun, beginner and advanced. The only thing that will bite is to buy dies for all of the calibers you shoot. If you do go that route I suggest you get a basic starter kit and add on from there. There is plenty that you'll find to include later on. I like to neck size only and then every third load I'll full lenth size. If you shoot all your guns as often as it sounds you'll really save a lot of money.

Quilly, if you like to hunt, reloading is a good thing to grow your pleasure of the sport.....I see you live in Massachusettes.....First of all I'd advise you move to a conservative state....however you might be able to find someone to show you reloading there.

I strongly recommend that you find a local gun shop that sells reloading supplies and ask the propriator to introduce you to someone that has a reloading set up at his home. Volunteer to buy dies, and components and ask that person to show you how it's done. There's just no substitute for one on one training and then you can venture off by yourself using videos etc.

To those of you that learned on your own,.....wow, I'm impressed.....I couldn't have done it without help!!!!

not allowed to reload in my house. no where else to do it. going to move out in a year or two maybe then. just a thought that someone woudl do it. oohwell thanks for replying to me!
