8mm-06 Questions

Is brass commercially available for this cartridge, or does one have to form their own?

Does anyone know of a good source of loading data for this round?

Who makes good dies for it?

RE: 8mm-06 Questions

The 8mm-06 is a wildcat and I don't think factory brass is available. The dyes can be gotten from RCBS but are higher in cost than standard cal. 30-06 brass is used to make the 8mm-06. Zeak

RE: 8mm-06 Questions

it is my understanding that Weatherby has now bought out factory guns in .338-06...and in light weight rifles for it too!!!!...yes also factory (hi priced) ammo as well.....that means it's no longer a wildcat!!!!!

Zeak is absolutely correct.....Dies from RCBS or Hornady (insist on dies for the weatherby version) and either .30-06 brass or .35 whelen brass.....one pass thru the resizer die and whammo.....you got .338-06 brass.

Reloading data is available from many sources as this has been a popular wildcat for a long time and deservadly so. I like the Hodgdon data manual, but others of equal fine quality are available.....Hornady's latest manual also lists the .338-06
