WOW! Guess no one is loading these days, well I contacted Ferderal about the shortage, they are working 24/7 producing and right now everything is going to the war, our law enforcement people and the rest into loaded ammo. They gave no time when we could expect to see some come our way, heard from another site it might be Mar 08 when you will start seeing some. By the way I'm using WLR's till the Fed's can be gotten again (may not go back to the Fed's ).

I use CCI primers. They seem to work good enough for me.

I use the Fed. 215M Gold Match primers and they work fine. I usually buy 200 at a time and only shoot about 100 rounds a year so I stil have some left from last year. I'll keep my eyes open to see what they have on the shelves when I go in for bullets today.

I've never used F210 M's, just plain old Fed. 210's. Still have about 600 left.

However, I HAVE had some good results with CCI LR primers. Having never used the "match" type primers, I don't really know if my rifles would shoot better whti them or not.

I did go pick up some Accubonds the other day at my local shop and asked about Fed primers. Sure enough, they are completely out and have been for a while. They had other brands but I have enough to last this year out. Will start shopping for them to stock up though, and probalby buy a lot of 1k when I do find some.

I can't find Federal 210M primers anywhere as well. Does anyone know a good source for them right now?

what's the difference in the 210m's and the 210's

bigcountry 09-29-2007 07:10 PM

RE: primers

210M is match primers, and 210 is regular. They say the 210M are more consistent. I proably waste money on the M primers.

I am just getting back in to this, the ones I was using in the cva I had were winchester w209's are the f210m primers used so you won't end up with flyers, the ml I will be using now is a tc omega..........Ted

RE: primers

Well, a 210 is a large rifle primer, and a 209 is a shotgun primer. Two totally different sizes. Can't use a 210, unless you an adaptor. And I don't recommend it.

Yes, there's a huge difference. The 209 primers are designed to fit into shotgun hulls, they are about 3 times the size of Federal 210 / CCI 200 large rifle primers. I use CCI exclusively but the Winchester Rifle Primers I think are WLR or something like that...unless something has changed.

Recently I've had some trouble finding Winchester LR primers. The local Cabela's gun dept. was clear out. MidwayUSA in out and can't back order, because they don't know when they'll get more instock.-

backyardreloader,i use the cci benchrest also, they are supposed to be better quality then regular cci primers.

i was told that they would stop fliers in group ,and so far they seen to do just that. all of my guns seem to shot tighter grps with the BR.
