140gr bullet 7mm Mag
It's a little late... I've already bought 100 Nosler Accu Bonds and 50 Nosler Part in 140gr... I've read that the 140gr out of the 7mm Mag was a no brainer...
Was the 140gr bullet a good choice??? |
RE: 140gr bullet 7mm Mag
Should work fine for you. I've have great success with the 140 gr. TSX on whitetail.

To shoot what? For deer sized stuff the 140's are perfect if they shoot in your rig. Brett

I shoot 140 Nosler bt. and they drop deer where they stand.

RE: 140gr bullet 7mm Mag
When I shot the 7 Mag,(Had five of them) I shot mostly the 140 Nosler BT bullets. The very early ones were a bit fragil but the ones now are quite dependable IMO. For boiler room shots I would use them for any NA game. This would hold true for the 280,7X57 and 7MM-08 as well.

3of the last4 whitetails I've shot were with 140 BT's. One was at 200 yards, the other 2 at 325 to 330yards.2 dropped in their tracks, the other ran about 30 yards with a 3" exit wound (hit a couple of ribs and the liver). I think the Accubond's should hold together and perform as well or better than the BT's.
BTW, a friend of mine shot a large cow elk at 200 yards with a 140 BT a few years ago. Bullet hit in the boiler room and passed all the way through. Dropped her right there. |
RE: 140gr bullet 7mm Mag
I've used both 140's and 150 gr. bullets in my loads. It's a toss up for me which have been better. What ever bullet I use I like to stick to the BT design. I've had much success with both Noslar and Sierra.

RE: 140gr bullet 7mm Mag
Thats about all I shoot out of my Browning A-Bolt 7mag. 140gr Accu-Bonds, BTs. They are tack driving bullets for sure. I use the BTs for general shooting, messing around, been using the Accu-Bonds on deer since they were first introduced.
This season I am working up a load for a Barnes TSX 120gr, should be a flat hard hitting combo on whitetails and muleys. |
RE: 140gr bullet 7mm Mag
Shot my 7mm this week end... I still cant get over how great this gun shoots.... I've never had a gun that shoots like this!!! Shot 3 shot group you could cover with a dime... With factory ammo:eek:

RE: 140gr bullet 7mm Mag
I've got an older A-boltthat LOVES the 140's. I'm a pretty big 700 fan but that a-bolt is the most accurate out of the box rifle I've ever been around.
I have shot a pile of whitetails with about every bullet combination under 160 grain. For that devistaing "right there he is" effect the 140's are about the best. If you don't mind meat damage, the Sierra is a good 1 (I have had 1 failure in a weedfield with these, I suspect it opened on the brush. Only had about 3" of penetration behind the shoulder. A 2nd follow-up nearly tore a shoulder off). The 7 mag is a cannon. Any bullet combo will work well. You'll be fine... |
