New powder made for Weatherby?

Is there a new powder out made especially for Weatherby magnum rounds? I had heard there was, but can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thx

I think H1000 is centered around the Weatherby's. I talked to my smith about it and he said they have a mix that he has not been able to duplicate.

Does this powder add velocity, accuracy or both to a .300 Weatherby Magnum? I'm using RL22 now with IMR4350 running a close second.

There is no way to tell if a given powder will be accurate in a specific rifle without trying it.The same goes for velocity.

Barnes X .308:

I have a 340 Wby. Mag. which I get constant groups under .500" and push a 250gr. Barnes XFB 3060 f/s 5197 ft/lb. using Norma Powder. Good Luck.

Barnes X 308: My 300 Weatherby really likes H-4831.
It's almost impossible to duplicate factory loads because they mix and match differant lots of powder so they can get as close as possible on every lot of ammo.

Hodgdon has H50BMG out thats for large capacity magnum rounds. They've got a new one coming out this spring called Retumbo. Supposed to be specifically for magnums. You can see it on their website (www.hodgdon.com)

Norma har been loading Weatherby ammo for a long time. MRP used to be their slowest powder, and I believe this is the powder they use in Weatherby factory ammo. The new powder form Norma is the MRP II. It burns even slower than the old MRP. More like Re#25 i suppose. Remember that Norma load their ammo to the pressurelimit. My experience is that ammo made in the USA operate at a lower pressure. Exept Federal High Energy and Hornady Light/Heavy Magnum.

PS. Norma is located in Sweeden, but the man who started the firm was from Norway.

Hey fellas, the powder that was developed especially for Weatherby in 1978 was Dupont, IMR 7828. It still offers the best performance for most Weatherby rounds. It was exported to Sweden exclusively for Norma use for some.
