.300 WSM and 165 gr. BT
I would like more bullet weight in the .300 WSM and I'm interested in shooting the 165 gr. NBT. Although, I'm not completely locked in to this bullet, do any of you have experience with the cartridge and 165 gr. bullets? I'd appreciate any help.

RE: .300 WSM and 165 gr. BT
I have a winchester model 70 featherweigth with 24" barrel in 300WSM. Im loading 64gr of H4350 with fed 215 primer and 165gr NBT it shoots great with this load 3/4" group at 100yds with a velocity of 2842fps. I took 2 deer with it this yr one at 134yds and one at 297 yds both droped in tracks. I have used the NBT in my 30-06's for yrs with great results both of them shoot this bullet into nice one hole groups at 100yds at a velocity of about 2750fps. and have taken dozens of deer with none going more than 30yds. Hope this helps

RE: .300 WSM and 165 gr. BT
Thanks Spike, I failed to mention that this gun is a Browning A-Bolt Stalker which has a 23" barrel. I use the gun exclusively on power line rightof-ways and clear-cuts here in middle Georgia for deer. Certainly, I am looking for accuracy first and velocity second, but I'm hoping for a load that will shoot around 3000-3100 fps. Any suggestions?

RE: .300 WSM and 165 gr. BT
the mannual says with 65.5gr of H4350 you will get a max of 3047fps . The fastest load listed for the165 NBT is 65gr of H414 getting 3069fps. To get faster you will have to go with 155gr or 150 gr bullets that will ge tyou up in the 3200 fps range. THere are loads listed at the Hodgdon web sight. Also remember these loads are checked out of a 24" barrel your 23" will cost ya a little fps.

RE: .300 WSM and 165 gr. BT
I switched from the 150gr to the 165grbt in my 300 Weatherby and accuracy improved a bunch without much vel. lose. They also didn,t tear the deer up as bad as the 150s did. Zeak
