257 weatherby?

I'll try and locate some data for you. Layne Simpson from Shooting Times did an artical a while back.He prefered RE-22 /Fed mag primers and Nosler Partitions in the .257 Weatherby. At 3400-3500 fps for a 100grainer assuming you have a 26" pipe. Don't use lightly constructed bullets. It's a roughly 200fps upgrade from the 25-06 and there's nothing wrong with it either.Gives a whole new meaning to reach out and touch somebody.A neighbour lady shoots moose with her's on a regular basis rarely requiring a second shot 120gr partition.Get a decent scope and a bipod or make some shooting sticks.I use old ski poles with a bolt and rubber washer 6 " below the handles. The Finns used to loop the hand straps over each pole sniping Russians in their 105 day war.............Harold

Here you go, I found it.Making the .257 Weatherby Magnum go! All brass is Weatherby and Win WLRM primers.Sierra 75gr bullet/RE-22 /77gr @ 3922fps,Nosler 85gr BT /RE-22/75gr/3788fps,Nosler 100gr Partition/RE-22-72gr/3521fps.Nosler Partition 115gr/Re-22/70gr/3348fps and Nosler Partition 120gr/69gr/3307fps.Virgin brass starts out @ about2.545" and after a couple reloads excede the max.recommended length of 2.549".Trim to 2.540" afterloaded acouple times.Hope this helps, have some H-4831 data if needed as well.........Harold

Congratulations on your .257 Roy purchase. I have tinkered with one in a Mark V for about a decade now and have found two loads that I really like.
The first falls in your category of asking:
115 grain Combined Tech Ballistic Silvertip
IMR 7828
Federal 215M
Weatherby Brass or,
Winchester 7mm Rem Mag brass formed to .257 Roy
COL - As long as the magazine will allow
Velocity - Right at 3,400 fps
Note: Takes 1 grain less powder to in the Winchester brass to achieve the same velocity as the Weatherby brass.
The second load I use is now my go to load because I feel that the ballistic silvertip is to frangible of a bullet at those speeds for big game...does do a number on things you don't eat though
It consists of the 110 grain Nosler Accubond
Reloder 25
Federal 215M
Winchester 7mm Rem Mag brass formed to .257 Roy
COL - As long as the magazine will allow
Velocity - Averages 3,525 fps.
I think this is going to be an awesome deer/antelope load.
Here are some pictures of the groups it has been turning in at 100 yards.
