140 AB - 7mm rem mag

Was doing a little clean up in my gun room and low behold I come upon 140AB's that I bought last year in hopes of getting a draw Antelope tag. Hoping this year will the oneI pull a lope tag[8D].

Anybody got any experience with the 140ab/7mm rem mag they'd like to share?

Thanks

RE: 140 AB - 7mm rem mag

My buddy loaded 100 of em and they shoot awsome, 140 gr Acubond , 215 fed mag primer,(he worked up slow) to67 1/2 grs of RL 22 , over all case length, 3.26, shot out of a Rem 700 bdl, 1/2 inch and better 3 shot groups, he had only one problem, went hunting 3 different times and never fired a shot, so can't tell you how they work on deer or goats, we never chronoed them. Good luck

I haven't used the 7 mag to hunt with but did work up some loads for my ruger 7 mag and the 140 AB.The 2 best loads were.
R-22=68 grs,wrlm primer,3127fps,one hole groups at 100 yds,shot some 140 bt same speed and groups at 100yds.
The other best was IMR 7828=70 grs .wlrm,3125 fps,one hole at 100yds.
Used the 110 AB in a 25/06 last year and it worked great on a nice 8 pointer at 80yds.Complete pass through deer went about 20 yds
Groups started opening up after I passed 68gr and 70 gr with these powders.

Here is my load for my 7mag Browning.

140gr Accu Bond
Fed 215M
66gr RL22
3.348"

Puts 3 shots in a nice lil clover at 100 yards, and about 1.25" 3 shot groups at 300 yards.

That is not a max load, so this summer I was thinking about bumping that load up a ways and seeing how it performed, I was previously loading 66grs of powder and didn't feel like changing anything so I just went with it.

I forgot - Works good on speedgoats as well!

Thanks. Anybody ever run H4831 beside to see how it does with the 140's as comparable to RL22??

IMO R-22 is the king for speed in the 7RM w/ the 140's. I was about 75fps slowerw/ H4831. As far as accuracy, I've seen great results withAccubonds with almost any powder. Brett

Have shot about 70 140gr AB through my 7mm this past year. Found the best groups at 100yds were with 68.5gr of RL-22 with WLRM primers, seated about 0.015-0.018 off the lands (full length sized to 2.490; land distance was 3.352"). I was running the OAL at ~3.337" This was through an A-Bolt Eclipse with the BOSS set at 2.4. Got 3200fps with this load. 0.284" with three shots was the norm!! 67.5gr of RL-22 did pretty good as well - 0.514" with three shots at about 3080fps. I started at 65 gr and moved up slowly. I stopped at 70gr - no pressure signs, but the groups opened up a little (1.2").

Took four whitetails this year with the 68.5gr load - three nice does and a LARGE bodied 8-pt (242lbs dressed!) All 3 does dropped on the spot - chest hits. The buck took two hits in the chest at 100 yds. Great exit holes. PM me for pics of the exit wounds on the buck - if you want!?

I was very impressed with the AB - better penetration than the BT's, seemed to hold together more and I didn't worry about them blowing up on the close shots. Am loaded up some 165 and 180gr for my 300WM.

The 140 gr. accubond is the best shooting bullet out of my 7mm saum. Shot one doe, no complaints. Velocity is a little over 3100 f.p.s.

I witnessed one bull moose taken with this combination and I was impressed. The penetration was very good.
