Thanks, I shoot the 130's for deer here in Northern California or if we head back to Wyoming. The 150's are for a friend who wants to hunt elk. I already reload my 06 with the CT Balistic Silver Tips in 165 gr.and get good results

For the .270 WIN., I have adopted just three loads - covers everything :

110 grain Sierra and 58 grains of IMR 4350 varmints up to coyotes
130 grain Nosler Partition, 55.5 grains of IMR 4350everything inlower 48 except elk & moose
150 grain NoslerPartition, 53.5 grains of IMR 4350everything in Alaska,elk & moose in the lower 48

For varmints, you might also take a look at the 90 gr. Sierra HP. I used to load this bullet with 55.0 gr. of IMR 4350, and got great accuracy. Essentially makes your .270 into a .243

Try 130gr Hornady's /Winchester or Federal cases/magnum primers and 57gr of IMR 4831.I've used this load for over 25 years on moose,deer ,antelope and bear with no compaints from the muzzle to near a quarter mile.I won't use Remington brass as it is too brittle and the necks crack after only a couple reloads.100 Win . brass lasted me nearly 10 years before wearing out.Use magnum primers in everything for any hunting in -10F or colder.5% of your velocity is the primer under the powder!Never needed a 150gr but let your gun decide what,s more accurate.........Harold

I have taken over 35 whitetails w/ the 270. I started w/ 130 gr. bullets and found that they were blowing thru the animals (well placed shoulder shots) and the deer were running 50-100 yds BEFORE going down. I went to 150 gr. w/ a slightly slowed down load (circa 2700 - 2800 fps) and the deer started dropping in their tracks.

This was PA hunting most shots less than 100 yds.I killed on Co. whitetail the weighted 200 plus also. Frankly, I would not reccomend the 130gr.highly based on my experience. I have not tried noslers or barnes bullets in the 130. But my feeling is why expierment w/ what has proved to be a deadly load.

Ruger M77 Load 150 gr sierra boat tail; 55 gr. of IMR 4831, CCI 200 primers - neck sized only ( used the same brass 10x at least) shooting 1 MOA to 1.5 off the bench. VERIFY THE POWER CHARGE SINCE I AM GOING FROM MEMORY RIGHT NOW.

Lol, I shot a doe this fall with a 130 Speer SPBT with 58 gr. of 4831 at about 20 yards and it dropped her like a sack of spuds. OK, so that is not the best example but it was funny to me just to get a shot that close. ;)

58 grs. of rl-22 with a 150 gr. speer, or 57.5 grs. of H-4831. Quickest killer I've ever seen. Have'nt loaded 130's yet, but I have some 130 core lokt's that I'm going to load up.

I just picked up Horady 130 sst for my .270 Browning a-bolt. I will be going Ram hunting in several weeks and decided to try this cart. as oppose to theRemington corelocks. Going to the range and see if they shoot the same. Will I be disappointed?
