RE: Good load for .223 Rem
Jeepkid-
As sonn as I get back from my business trip, I will be going to the range to test the H335 and some other bullets besides the Blitzkings and Bal Tips. I've loaded up some Sierra Blitz Med. Velocity and some Sierra HPBT all in 55 grainers to see what 5 more grains shoots like. Also loaded up some 50 grain V-Max's with the H335 to see what they do. I'll post the targets and data( no speeds, I don't have a chrono) to share with you guys. Good shooting! Stew |
RE: Good load for .223 Rem
I like the way the cz's are shooting for you fellows, been wanting a 6.5 x 55 in the cz or tikka varmit.Tikka doesn't list one in the t-3 here so waiting to see if they do when the 2007's come out.
Have a savage 10FP and it really likes benchmark with 40 and 55 gr bullets,With the 69 gr match it loves R-15.Haven't tried any w748 but it shoots any powder I have tried in it good. ![]() ![]() |
RE: Good load for .223 Rem
One of my favorite .223 loads is 25.5 grains of IMR 3031 in a Winchester case with Winchester primer and a 45 grain Remington PSP. It makes small cloverleafs at 100 yards that can be covered by a dime. This is a near maximum load.

RE: Good load for .223 Rem
ALSGR-
The guy who owns the range where I shoot also uses 3031 for his .223. Is there something about this powder I dont know? I've rarely come across anything written or mentioned regarding IMR3031 and the .223 Tell me more!!! |
RE: Good load for .223 Rem

RE: Good load for .223 Rem
The max load is not good but as the charge comes down a half grain, the accuracy tightens up tremendously.
A half grain can work magic!!! |
RE: Good load for .223 Rem
Thanks 358. I'm going to have to give that stuff a try after I run out of BL-C(2).

RE: Good load for .223 Rem

Seems like W748 and H335 are super .223 Rem powders. Decisions, decisions!!! |
