Brass?
I have searched through the forums and the only thing I found was complaints on remingtong brass. Nothing on what is the best bang for the buck.
I'm new to reloading, and dont' shoot alot, mostly .243 for coyotes. But would like to reload for my 30-06 as well. I have federal brass currently, once shot; however, I need to purchase some more. Is Norma brass worth the extra cash? Thanks, Eric Wolffram |
RE: Brass?
One word, Lapua. It is the best, most consistent brass I have ever seen. Tom.

RE: Brass?
Nothing wrong with Remington or Winchester brass. What your paying extra for with brass like Lapua, Norma, Nosler, etc. is quality control and uniformity. What would pass QC at Rem, WW, PMC, etc. would never pass at them.

RE: Brass?
I mainly use Winchester brass. I have some Norma for my .300wsm. The Norma is definitely quality brass, but in my opinion itis not worth the extra money for hunting loads. Just don't try too many reloads on a case. Ireload a case a max of 4 times and discard it.
Hope this helps |
RE: Brass?
Winchester brass seems to work ok for the casual reloader.

RE: Brass?
I had a run of badluck with Winchester brass and switched over to Remington brass a year ago and have only had maybe a handful of "bad" cases out of 1000+ rounds.
I won't spend the big money on Nosler, Lapua, Norma cases. But thats just me. |
RE: Brass?
I use Remington Brass all the time. Good luck.

RE: Brass?
i always see better ratings for winchester than remington but i've had better luck with rem for some reason.what made me unhappy was a very small drop in accuracy and a few split necks from winchester brass on the 1st or 2nd loading in my 22-250.other brands prices have been higher than i was willing to pay so i stuck with rem.

RE: Brass?
I just dont understand why Rem brass always looks like it came through a war zone before it entered my house? I mean Win brass is shiney and dent free where the Rem stuff has dimples and the necks are out of round etc.

"Is Norma brass worth the extra cash?"
No. And I have had no problems at all with either WW or R-P cases. |
