Hornady v. Barnes

Question: (These are for a .50 cal.)

Which do you prefer and why:

Hornady 250gr SST
Barnes 245 gr Spit-Fire MZ
Barnes 250 gr Spit-Fire TMZ

OR

If you prefer Barnes, do you like the 285 or 290 gr bullets better?

Thanks!

I haveused Hornady 250 SST's since 1997 and have never had a problem with them. I can not comment on the Barnes, never used them.

RE: Hornady v. Barnes

I have used the 250 gr. Barnes with very good results. They create a big wound channel and really dump animals hard. They also seat very hard in my T/C guns. I would recommend changing sabots to the Harvester with this bullet.

Have also used the 250 gr. Shockwave, which is the same bullet as SST with a slightlyeasier seatingsabot. These have also been very good - great balance of penetration and expansion. And they fly very well at long range. Maybe see which ones shoot the best on your rifle.
