HEy i need help
 

Well i have a 7mm SAUM (short action ultra magnum) and i havent found a book that shows that caliber.Would yall mind telling me the best hunting load for this caliber? Please help because i just got it and im shooting 140's out of it but i really dont like them and they dont sell factory bullets at reasonable prices.

Contact bullet and powder companies through email. Most will send you their data. Some even have it listed on their websites.

this data was with a 24" barrel 1-9.5" twist Rem case, and Rem 9.5M primers. Saami OCL is 2.825, Case should be trimmed to 2.034".

I wonder if the Remington SAUM calibers will still be around in 10 years . . . . Seems like the availability of factory ammo, at least in my catalogs, is shrinking.

I personally dont see a difference in a 7mmSAUM and a 7mm rem mag. I mean book data says around 3100 fps for the SAUM, Thats easily achievable in a Rem mag. Plus the only advantage is the short action, but Ive heard of feeding problems with that short fat case (just what Ive heard no real data).

I would rather use my .300 winchester magnum but the 7mm saum as far as i know dont have feedin problems..Ive shot 200 times and never had a problem

I'm wondering also. I really don't see both the WSM's and SAUM's co-existing for very long. If I had both, I'd start stocking uplarge quanities ofSAUM brass

That's an excellent question. I saw my first .300 Rem SAUM cartridge the other day. It seems to me that you could make cases for it by sizing .300 WSM brass, if the day comes that the Rem. stuff disappears. Provided, of course, that the Win. calibers survive!

Actually, since it holds more powder, the 7mm Rem. Mag. can be loaded to beat the 7 SAUM, just as the regular .300 Win. Mag. will beat the short .30's as well.......

Laramie, due to the short case and short neck on this cartridge, it would be better to use bullets no heavier than perhaps 150 grains, if you don't want to have the bullet taking up some of the space where powder should be. What is it about 140 grain bullets that you don't like?

If you useNosler Partition, Barnes X, or other tough, controlled-expansion bullets, the 140's are adequate for game up to elk when used in the 7mm SAUM.

not trying to be a smart a$$ but

1. 200 shots is really not alot of shots to base data on and
2. how many of those shots have been hurrying trying to cycle the bolt as fast as possible in a real hunting situation or have theybeen hand fed on the sand bag shots.
