RE: need help loading 22-250
My 700 likes the white-box win too. I made a huge mistake when I first started reloading for 22-250. I thought that once fired shells didn't need to have the cases trimmed back. If you're doing the same consider yourself lucky to get 1.5" and lucky that you still have a gun in one piece. The 22-250 is generally a pretty darn forgiving reloaders cartridge so I don't know what it could be besides something in case prep. I still haven't had luck with 60gr partitions, but that's likely because I've only tried one powder and the partitions are probably just too long for my guns 1-14" twist. There are alot of more knowledgeable guys on here, they'll be able to point out other problem areas with the 22-250. Good luck

RE: need help loading 22-250
In the last 10 years,I've had the best luck with IMR4064,in the 22-250.Also,the Remington bullets are not going to group much better than what you have gotten!!!!Try Hornady 55 V max and see what happens?

RE: need help loading 22-250
35 Gr of RL-15 with your 55 gr bullets. This is a pretty light pressure load, but be careful.
I would start with them seated .010" off of the lands. |
RE: need help loading 22-250
Hard to beet 38gr of H380 behind a 55gr bullet! I've got 2 Rem 22-250's & that's the best load in both.

Are you cleaning the barrel often? a new barrel can be rough and hold copper quickly

Fishead when you say 22-250 coyote are you talking about a
winchester coyote? I have the coyote lite in 22-250 and it loves 50-55grn and varget. It shoots the Barnes 53 trx real well but they are a little$$$ |

I have had great luck using IMR 4064, 34.5 grains with hornady 55gr sp. Very Accurate and great bullet performance, I plan to try 55gr vmax in the near future.

RE: need help loading 22-250
I've been reloading 22-250 for years. My best load is not necessarily the fastest but is the most accurate one in my rifle. I use 36.0 grns of H-380 and Hornady 52 grn BTHP Match bullets. These HP's are absolutely devasting on a prairie dog. The other thing to consider is your OAL, I have a Stoney Point OAL case length gauge so that I know my distance to the lands. I seat back about .005" off the lands which I believe gives me the accuracy. Use caution however when seating out near the lands so that you do not create excessive chamber pressures. Pick up one of the books by Rick Jamison, the 22-250 is his favorite round.
