gunsmithing Question

I have a swiss K-31 carbine and i am re-finishing the stock. Anyways, my question is this where is the tang screw and the reciever screw. I was told if i lossened both up then torqued the recever screw all the way down, then tighten the tang screw all the way minus 1/8 turn and played with the tang screw + or- i could tighten or widen my groups. I tried finding plueprints on line but no luck. right now it shoots 3" groups at approx 100 yards open sights

Try swissrifles.com and try http://www.gunboards.com/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=37.

I would say from an accuracy perspective that either you are using the wrong ammo in your swiss or your swiss is having mechanical issues. They are very accurate rifles.

You can try the method on the above link. I've tried a few experiments with putting spacers in the barrel bands made from small washers to take the pressure off the barrel at the front band, but I did not adjust the pressure of the tang screw. It didn't make any difference in accuracy, so I'm guessing that adjusting the pressure on the action screws is just as, if not more important.

If you do a little searching, Pierre St Marie has designed several different products specifically for the K-31, including diopter sights, scope mounts, and muzzle brakes that make the rifles more accurate.

also check the links on this page for all kinds of swiss rifle goodness. http://www.swissrifles.com/
