Know any good 22-250 loads?
 

I just bought my first varmint/target gun, a 22-250 Model 70 Stealth (birthday present!). Any bullet and load recommendations from those of you with experience with this load and/or rifle? I figure on using 50 or 55 grain slugs, but maybe others are better, I don't know.

I have good results using IMR 4895 & 4064 with 50 and 52 gr bullets. I don't have my load data handy, but can post it later if your are interested.

My best load for my Ruger 22-250 is.
37.5 grains of H380 Hodgdon powder with a 50 grain Hornady V-Max bullet in a nickel Remington case.I also have had good loads using BLC-2 Powder(37.0 grain)and the same bullet.We started loading our rifle ammo 3 years ago,I have been loading shotgun loads since I was about 10 years old with my Dads supervision.We have found that you will have to experiment with several loads to get the one that you gun shoots the best.I have taken 2 groundhogs with the loads mention above at over 500 yards.

Here is a load that I've had great results with. Winchester cases, CCI BR2 primers, 36.5 grains of Hodgdon's Varget powder and the 55 grain Nosler ballistic Tip bullets. This load is the max listed load in the Hodgdon manual so you should work up to just to be sure it's safe in your rifle.
The powder burns clean and accuracy is great. I hope that this is of some help.

I've gotten good, around 1/2" 5 shot groups @ 100 yards using Varget, in Winchester cases with Sierra's 52gr HPBT Match King, and Hornaday's 55gr V-Max bullets, using CCI BR2 primers & Fedral's Large Rifle Gold Metal Match primers Both have given good results on coyotes at over 100 yards.(Sorry, I haven't measured the range.) Make sure that you get your case legth uniform and the COL to your rifle's liking. I've had terrible groups with some loads in 22-250Rem and ajusted the COL and the groups improved greatly.
