RE: 7 Mag reloads
Oh, speaking of brass. I've had poor results using Remington brass (at least the cheap green box). Not bashing Big Green, I love my Remington guns. Just I've had the best luck using Federal Premium brass. I would like to buy some Nosler brass to use but just can't quite afford it plus I already have a couple hundres cases so no need yet.

RE: 7 Mag reloads
Reloaded the 7Mil Mag for about 15 years. Same gun, Rem 700 of corse 7Mil Mag,HS stock with alluminum bedding block, trigger joband a 4X12X50 Leupold scope.IMR 7828 or IMR 4831 both are great for this cal. Worked up some loads with the Nosler 140 Gr A-Bond IMR 4831.
100 Yd groups under 1/4 inch, a hole in a hole in a hole three shot groups !! I went directly from the Nosler book and worked up to the Max load by 1 gr incraments and WA LA !!! I killed 2 bucks and 1 doe last Year with this load. Like being struck by lightining, no tracking involved. Good luck and have fun with load development, this is what it is all about. |
RE: 7 Mag reloads
OH and I forgot, useonce or several times fired Winchester brass. The brass must be fired out ofthe gun You are going to load the amo for. This will form fit the brass to Your guns inside chamber dementions.Winchester brass seems to hold up better than other makes of brass. I have some brass that I have reloaded 10 to 15 times, just keep trimming and neck sizing the case and reload it untill You can see threw the brass and then discard the case. Just joking !!!! When the case mouth splits throw it away. But Winchester brass does hold up extremely well.

RE: 7 Mag reloads
I would definetly check into the 150 gr swift scirocco bullet for your 7mm. It will give you awesome results on both species. Please try it dude, then thank me later.

RE: 7 Mag reloads
Warning!
![]() I like the Scirocco's so don't think I don't. However I had issues with OALwith my Browning A-bolt. I couldn't load them as far out as I'd have liked due to lmiitations of the length of the box magazine and accuracy suffered a little because of it. Still managed to get a nice little buck with them the 1 year I had them. Their problem is the thick jacket of copper makes the bullet longer than a bullet with more lead in it. Even the 150g in my 7mm were really long. Oh, and here's some pictures that buck including bullet damage if you are interested. There's a link to the graphic images of the bullet damage too if you want to dare click on them. http://www.powerandfury.com/j02deer.html |
