Nickel Cases?

A buddy and I just got some nickel Remington cases in 243 and 270. We never reload nickel before, but as I ran the 270 through the neck sizer they needed lots of force (well-lubed cases). They also came out with a ridge at the case mouth. My buddy collapsed two cases trying to get the bullet in. Has anyone got an opinion on nickel cases?

270, you might try deburring a little more than you usually do, especially inside the case mouth. The mouths of new cases are battered and can hang on the expander ball. Tapering your expander ball might help too. I personally dont like nickel plated cases for reloading. They seem harder and more brittle to me. Seems like they tend to split in the neck more often than unplated brass and they seem harder to size too. I have only used a few batches, but I dont use them anymore.

I too had that problem and like larry said just deburr the inside real good.I do like nickel and use them for all my brass. They are more brittle.Use lots of lube and you should be fine.I get about 9 reloads out of 7mm mag brass. The 10th batch starts splitting necks.I just anneal them and continue on.

I like nickel cases! If for no other reason, because I think they look good. I use them in all my rifles, never have bought any regular brass cases. Ive used brass, just once fired instead of new.

Nickel is okay but it does not last as long as brass cases.
